ACP Clinical Guidelines and Scientific Medical Policies
ACP develops clinical guidelines to provide you with recommendations based on the best available evidence; to provide guidance when there is no evidence; and to help you deliver the best health care possible. This year, ACP published two guidelines on the important topic of diverticulitis:
  • Diagnosis and Management of Acute Left-Sided Colonic Diverticulitis

ACP also maintained rapid, living practice points related to COVID-19, publishing updates for:

Performance Measurement
ACP is working hard to reduce the burden of performance measurement and focusing on evidence-based performance measures that lead to improved patient outcomes. We do so by advancing science and methods of measurement and measures and identifying performance measures that are scientifically valid. ACP has pushed for using valid performance measures for high stakes accountability purposes, e.g., pay for performance and public reporting. Over the past year, ACP reviewed close to 20 measures addressing hypertension and cancer screenings. ACP strategically engages with important stakeholders in the measurement space to ensure that ACP-supported measures are included in value-based programs.
DynaMed®, a free benefit of ACP membership, gives you quick access to high-quality evidence-based information, expert guidance, and current clinical answers at the point of care.
