Drs. Burnett and Yoder received special recognition for their contributions to the College’s advocacy efforts
Anthony Yoder, MD, MPH, FACP
Dr. Anthony Yoder has been a role model for civic engagement, advocacy, and leadership on the Governor's Advisory Council and in the Connecticut (CT) Chapter. Under his and his Co-Chair's leadership, the CT Chapter Health and Public Policy Committee (HPPC) has flourished, developing into a dynamic, energized committee that has attracted new membership. His efforts have helped to amplify Connecticut ACP's voice, and strengthened the presence, in the areas of environmental action and health care policy in Connecticut. He plays an active role in advocacy at the state level, including giving testimony on healthcare related bills, authoring numerous op-ed pieces published in local newspapers, and serving on the Health Care Cabinet of the Connecticut State Office of Health, and on the Connecticut Coalition for Climate Action.
Adam Obley, MD, FACP; Joel Burnett, MD; Kelsi Manley, MD; and R. Logan Jones, MD
For the first time, ACP has recognized a group, an advocacy team from the Oregon Chapter, for their efforts. Despite the many clinical demands on their time, this team has partnered to advance an enormous body of work in their Chapter, to teach/guide/encourage advocacy skills and engagement, and to ensure an ongoing army of physician advocates is developed in their state. They have engaged on such issues as firearm legislation, houselessness, universal access to care, workforce challenges, and public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
