We’re excited for the future and the next era of MKSAP. ACP MKSAP, an all-digital learning platform, launches on Feb. 3, 2025. ACP MKSAP will offer MKSAP users’ favorite features, along with new enhancements and learning innovations within a brand-new interface. Learners may choose from one of two subscription terms to best suit their needs and lifestyle. ACP MKSAP is currently available for preorder, and subscribers can receive immediate access to free MKSAP 19 bonus content with their ACP MKSAP presale purchase bundle.
The new ACP MKSAP features will include:
  • Sixteen content sections for expanded coverage of the breadth of internal medicine

Internal Medicine Meeting 2024
ACP’s Internal Medicine Meeting 2024 in Boston saw the second largest attendance ever. The hybrid event showcased more than 170 scientific sessions featuring a full spectrum of internal medicine clinical subspecialty and generalist topics including sessions on ACP clinical guidelines, content for hospitalists and topics on current issues such as telehealth, health and the unhoused populations and health policy issues.
Eric Topol, M.D., MACP, Professor and Executive Vice-President of Scripps Research and Founder and Director of Scripps Research Translational Institute, delivered the keynote: “How A.I. Will Change Medicine.”

New Events

New in Annals of Internal Medicine: Hear it First from the Authors

In this new scientific plenary session, a “first” for ACP’s annual meeting, Annals of Internal Medicine presented three breaking scientific research articles and featured insights from the authors of those articles. Christine Laine, M.D., MPH, Annals of Internal Medicine Editor-in-Chief and ACP Senior Vice President, introduced the authors and facilitated a discussion to gain further insights into their work. The articles and presentations included:  
  • The Effect of Time-Restricted Eating on Body Weight: A Randomized Controlled Isocaloric Feeding Trial in Adults with Diabetes
  • Assessing Clinical Utilization of Next Generation Antibiotics Against Resistant Gram-negative Infections in US Hospitals: A Retrospective Cohort Study
  • Newer Pharmacological Treatments in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: A Clinical Guideline from the American College of Physicians

Welcome Reception

ACP’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee proudly hosted a successful and sold out inaugural Welcome Reception. The new event celebrated the depth and breadth of our attendees' professional identities and generations. The reception united the many voices of internal medicine from U.S. and global communities with one celebratory event, providing an opportunity to meet and enjoy colleagues in person so that conversations can continue throughout the year.

Returning Favorites

The ACP Career and Development Center, in its second year, offered a robust collection of professional development resources and tools to help attendees learn, network and grow in their careers. These included Mini But Mighty Academic Skills Sessions, one-on-one career coaching sessions, Meet the Abstract and poster displays and opportunities at the Job Placement Center.

Doctors Dilemma®

The coveted Osler Cup was presented to the Pennsylvania team from the Albert Einstein Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program for winning Doctor's Dilemma. ACP Doctor's Dilemma® Competition is an annual event that tests the medical knowledge of up to 60 internal medicine residency teams, each representing an ACP chapter.

Clinical Skills Center

The always-popular Clinical Skills Center offered hands-on learning opportunities, including simulation models focusing on office-based procedures, live model examination skills, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) imaging stations and activities supporting assessment and interpretation skills.

Convocation Ceremony

ACP’s annual Convocation Ceremony honored in-person recipients of outstanding contributions to medicine, recognizing 347 new Fellows, 71 members elected to Mastership and the recipients of 21 national awards.

ACP’s Online Learning Center offers hundreds of curated CME/ MOC activities including journal articles, podcasts, videos and interactive multimedia. Online Learning Center activities help you earn free CME/MOC credit and meet many state-based CME requirements. New this year, the Obesity Management Curriculum launched updated content including videos, cases and practice questions to help you assist patients with managing obesity. It is available in both an interactive online and an audio-only version. In addition, we recently released audio-enhanced versions of the Human Trafficking and Intimate Partner Violence modules, convenient for on-the-go learning. POCUS
Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is an increasingly used tool to improve diagnostic timeliness and accuracy. Our member-exclusive ACP POCUS Pathway bundle provides a comprehensive collection of ultrasound training options including live courses with hands-on training, online interactive modules, a longitudinal virtual mentorship program and more. CME/MOC points are available and a certificate of completion is awarded after finishing each course.

ACP's High Value Care initiative aims to improve health, avoid harm and end wasteful practices through its many resources. New resources include the updated High Value Care Case Modules, designed to help internal medicine physicians enhance their clinical skills and deliver patient-centered, cost-effective care. The curriculum is also a training tool to help residents and fellows be good stewards of limited health care resources.
Modules feature brief cases about the following topics:
  • Eliminating Health Care Waste: Reduce costs and maximize benefits
  • The Cost of Care: Estimate costs and potential cost barriers to care
  • Diagnostic Processes: Enhance clinical reasoning skills and reflect on current processes
