"Together, we can continue to shape the future of health care by recognizing that challenges are opportunities, that changes are forks in the road that can lead us to a better health care system and that our support of each other can only serve to strengthen the community of internal medicine."
Dear Colleagues,
We hope you will take some time to read this report that summarizes how ACP has worked for, and with, you over the past year.
ACP continues to create intentional awareness of the vital role that internal medicine physicians serve in health care, reinforcing our value and impact. As internal medicine physicians we do not merely provide health care services. We are leaders, experts in complexity and the cornerstone of comprehensive health care. We thrive in uncertainty and excel in challenging and dynamic environments.
As the landscape of health care continues to evolve and shift, ACP is here to help you continue to navigate change and to thrive professionally, through member-exclusive access to numerous clinical, professional and personal resources curated to support your needs.
We were honored this year to be the only U.S. organization to receive the designation of a GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation) Center, which recognizes ACP’s leadership and rigorous processes for developing clinical guidelines and recommendations.
ACP’s advocacy efforts remain strong during this election year. We released a policy underscoring the importance of equitable access to voting, as voting in U.S. elections and health are directly connected. We continue to advocate for changes that will help internal medicine physicians in their daily lives. ACP places a priority on advocating to compensate internal medicine physicians for the care they provide, reducing administrative burdens, improving certification policies and processes, and protecting the patient-physician relationship. We also continue to address public health issues, such as obesity, firearm injury and violence, through education and advocacy.
We continue to expand our robust array of membership benefits, including high-quality educational programs and resources for lifelong learners, evidence-based clinical guidelines and recommendations and publishing of scientific information to keep current in clinical knowledge. We’ve expanded our career and professional development offerings and practical and business resources to help you foster personal and professional fulfillment and success.
Our new, member-exclusive mobile app, ACP Connect, makes it easy for you to connect with our internal medicine community, engage with peers and stay up to date with the latest news from ACP.
ACP supports you through this changing landscape of health care, wherever you are in your internal medicine journey. We view the challenges ahead as opportunities to evolve. I welcome your feedback and thank you for everything you do for your patients and our profession.
I.M. Proud!
